This recent economy has made us live and survive from one pay check to another, and even the price of cars has got us searching for killer tips on buying used vehicles at auction. When the price of cars especially brand new ones seems to have increased and you can’t seem to afford it no matter how you try, there are always car auctions to consider. It will help you save money on a model of car that you have always wanted to buy.

But when you go to an auction, you easily get caught up at the cheap values and bid rates that other people are throwing in, so you keep on bidding for more. You tend to forget that aside from the price of the bidding that you won, there are other things to settle and to pay for. This includes the buyer’s premium of five percent of the winning bid amount–sometimes it even increases to ten percent.

For instance, the buyer’s premium is at ten percent. The car you have won is at ten thousand dollars. That means that you have to pay an additional of one thousand dollars on top of the amount that you just won. Instances such as these help you remember that you should play by the rules and not forget the tips so you can purchase a good quality item that is worthy of your money. Indulge yourself in the following tips that will make you a better bidder.

1. Check the different car on sale at the auction center. Pick the ones that you will likely be bidding for. Before the auction starts, secure the VIN numbers of these vehicles and quickly log on to any website that allows you to check the VIN history of a vehicle for free. The VIN of a car will let you know the different repairs as well the situations in which the car underwent through. So it will let you know if the car has been repaired several times or if the car went through floods or other calamities that could damage its engine.

2. Check out the different cars that you have been eyeing on. Make sure that it is still in good physical condition. If you are allowed to, check the doors, the seats, the steering wheel, windows, and practically anything that you can get your eyes and hands on.

3. Always stick to your budget. Do not allow yourself to get caught up in the auction war and bid your way to the highest bidder. No matter how much you want the car for yourself, do not bid any further if it goes beyond your budgeted amount. There will be other cars on auction, and you might soon get your turn to win.

4. Always prepare your money in the bank, most likely in the form of a bank draft. Most auctions will require this form of payment, so it is best that you are prepared in case you win.

5. Arrive ahead of schedule. This will allow you to inspect the cars more and research about them in a handy device that can connect you to the Internet. By using these killer tips on buying used vehicles at auction, you are becoming a wiser buyer than all the other bidders.

Shopping and looking for information on used car warranty can be such a tedious task. But being able to find one of the best is possible. All you have to do is to have some perseverance and patience and soon enough you will find the warranty that you have been looking for. But before that, there are several things that you need to know about a used vehicle warranty. Let us take a closer look.

Let us first discuss the different names vehicle warranties. There are three known other names: the extended auto warranty, vehicle service contract, and the mechanical breakdown insurance. For more information, let us discuss about it more.

An extended auto warranty is a full coverage protection plan usually offered by car dealers and manufacturers to protect their customer’s vehicles from damage and to give them free service when it comes to repairs. It is an extended contract between the manufacturer and the buyer that agrees to pay any costs for repair of damages within a given period of time.

If you purchase an extended auto warranty through a vehicle manufacturer, it can be a little bit more expensive than buying through a vehicle dealer. It does not matter where you purchase it as long as it gives you the same purpose of covering the costs whenever repairs from manufacture damage occur.

When it comes to finding a good auto warranty, it is best to consider the strength of the underwriter because or the investment banker. A warranty should be used to help you pay for the repair of damages and not find ways to get more money from what you already paid for. Their financial capabilities must be good enough to keep you as a customer no matter what state you are in.

One tip I can give you is to read the whole contract thoroughly. If you take time to read it, you will know which types of damages are covered as well as how you can claim your free repairs. It will also tell you the timeframe at which your vehicle is covered. Be careful with these contracts because some things might be hidden in fine print which you would not even bother to read because of the font size. They usually hide important conditions here, so be sure to read it.

However there will be some form of benefits that your car manufacturer or dealer may add to the contract. This may include reimbursement of your travel costs in the event that your vehicle gets damaged on your way home or to the destination of your journey. The manufacturer may also include emergency roadside assistance in cases wherein you suddenly had the following situations: key lockout or battery jump start.

Here’s another tip: make sure you do not easily get swayed by the price of these extended warranties. Some manufacturers will make it seem like they have the cheapest warranties around, but in reality the coverage you will be getting is just equivalent to the small price that you paid for, maybe even less. So make sure you keep in mind these information on used car warranty before you even consider buying one.

The Pennsylvania Lemon Law, or what is more legally known as the Automobile Lemon Law was made for the consumers and residents in general of the Keystone State to protect them from frauds involving manufacturers who sell brand new cars but are defective nonetheless. This law also protects its residents from sellers of used cars who do not disclose all history and important information about the condition of the car to the buyer.

In this law, there are different terms used. To avoid confusion, let us discuss what the law defines these words to be. In the future, when you are about to claim your rights through this law, you know where you will stand and the definition of these words will come in handy. Let us try to discuss some of the most confusing terms of the law.

The term “New Motor Vehicle” is always a confusing term to a lot of people especially when you are involved in buying or even selling cars. To avoid future confusion, know the meaning of this once and for all, here. New motor vehicle refers to a newly purchased and unused vehicle that can transport a maximum of fifteen people and is purchased and registered in the state; used for personal or family purposes. This law does not cover motorcycles and other off-road vehicles.

Another term, “nonconformity”, also causes confusion among those who want to claim their rights using this law. But do not worry, I am about to explain what it really means legally. Nonconformity simply refers to the damage or defect of a newly purchased and unused vehicle that does not follow or conform to the manufacturer’s or company’s high quality standards of the vehicle. It also includes any defect that impairs the use of the vehicle that could be a small damage or a life-threatening defect.

The last one that I am going to explain to you is the “Manufacturer’s Express Warranty“. This simply refers to the warranty of your newly and unused purchased vehicle that the manufacturer has given. It is a printed copy that holds all the terms and conditions as well as the given timeframes of the said warranty. As the buyer, it is your responsibility to keep this proof of warranty because you may need it for free repairs under the manufacturer in the future.

The lemon law gives the customer the right to be refunded or replaced with a new vehicle that is similar to or is the same model as the previously purchased one if several attempts have been made to repair it but still nothing has improved. In cases wherein the manufacturer does not agree to refund or replace your vehicle, you can claim your rights through the Lemon Law.

You can consult a legal attorney for you to file and take legal action against any manufacturer who refuses to give you your money’s worth. This is free and in if the customer wins the case, all costs will be paid by the manufacturer or seller of the vehicle.

Indeed, living in the Keystone State has its own benefits. Pennsylvania Lemon Law is truly a protection for all consumers of this state.

What Is The Process Involved In The New York Lemon Law?

The Lemon Law of the Empire State was made to protect the consumers of New York who have purchased a vehicle that show damages or nonconformity to its expected standards within twenty four months after it was purchased or at least eighteen thousand miles on the vehicle’s odometer, whichever event occurs first. This is provided that the said vehicle has undergone multiple attempts, preferably four times or more by any authorized auto repair shop.

Does It Apply To Private Vehicles Only?

No, this law in the Empire State includes any vehicle that can be bought, registered, leased or transferred to the Big Apple. Whatever your purpose for buying the vehicle is, know that you your consumer rights are covered by this law.

How Can A Vehicle Be Considered As A Lemon?

The law typically includes vehicles that have been damaged and has been undergoing repair in an authorized auto repair’s shop or at least thirty days already within the previously determined eighteen thousand miles in your odometer or twenty four months, then you can claim your rights through the Lemon Law. However, small problems that have been recurring for more than three times already can also be considered.

If The First Damage Falls After The Timeframe Of Twenty Four Months Or Eighteen Miles On The Odometer, Is It Still Covered By The Law?

Yes, given that the vehicle you just bought is still under warranty. Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, you can still claim your rights. Just be sure to keep copies of any proof of repair and also keep your proof of warranty to show to your legal counsellor or attorney.

If I File A Lawsuit Under The Lemon Law Of My State, Is It Going To Be Free Of Charge?

Yes, you will not be paying for anything given that you win the case. If your rights prevail, then the manufacturer, car dealer, or seller of the vehicle that you purchased will pay for all the costs of the lawsuits and these include attorney’s fees and other legal costs. This free service will give you more confidence against filing a lawsuit against a huge automobile company.

Are Motorcycles As Well As Cars For Lease Included?

Yes, these are also covered in the Lemon Law of this state. For more information on which types of vehicles or products are covered, you may use the services of any legal counsel who has ample knowledge about this law in the Empire State.

How About Used Cars? Are They Covered?

Yes, the same goes for used cars. You will still have your free services as well as all the other rights that have been previously discussed. These are all based on the Magnuson-Moss Act. If you buy used cars, you should know that you are at higher risk of purchasing lemon cars. The seller could lie or misrepresent a car and you could be taking home a lemon.

To avoid such circumstances, consult the law and protect yourself. Your consumer rights will always prevail when it comes to the New York Lemon Law.

When your luck runs out and you were able to purchase a “lemon”, you then ask yourself, “How do I choose the best lemon law attorney?” Well not to worry, I am here to explain what you need to look for when choosing a lawyer who can handle the situation you are in. Remember that when it comes to your rights, you should fight the battle because your rights are being protected by the United States law.

So allow me to help you by giving you the different qualities of a really good lemon law lawyer. As you go through the list, make sure that you keep them in mind for future reference. You never know when you are going to need one, so always keep this information handy. You may also write them down if you feel that you have to. Good luck.

1. Years of experience

With years of experience come knowledge, wisdom, and skill. A lawyer who has tons of years of experience can handle your case more easily than other lawyers who recently graduated or who just started their own private careers. If you have consulted a law firm, the same idea goes for this kind of situation–always asks about their experience. If the law firm you have consulted specializes in real estate, then you are better off finding another one. It would be best if they are known to be doing great in Lemon Law.

2. Law Firm Profile

If you are consulting a law firm, make sure that you do a little research when it comes to the profile and background of the company. Ask how many years have they been in business, and make sure to ask any friends or relatives who have sought for their advice. Find out any comments or reviews from other clients of the firm to make sure that you are consulting the right company.

3. The Cost

Lemon Law technically comes free from all charges, but that is only if you win the case. What if you lose? Who will then pay for all the legal costs incurred? Therefore, the costs of the law firm services or the attorney’s fees are still important to consider. Do not hire anyone that you cannot afford because you never know how the case will turn out. Make sure it is affordable and within your budget.

4. Lawyer’s Reputation

You know that a bad reputation can get your case nowhere, so make sure that the lawyer is clean as what is expected of him. Also ask about the number of cases he or she has handled and how many of them were won. The more cases that a certain lawyer won; the better your chances are of winning the case.

5. Knowledge of the Lemon Case

If your chosen lawyer does not know anything or does not have sufficient knowledge about the Lemon Law, he or she cannot defend you well. Find a lawyer who has handled similar cases so you are assured that you are in good hands.

So there you have it. I am sure that by now, the question of how do i choose the best lemon law attorney is already out of your thoughts. So go ahead and consult a legal counsel of what the right actions are in your case.

Just like the other states of the United States of America, the residents of the Sunshine State are protected by the lemon law on used cars. This is to protect all the customers of the state from fraudulent companies who are selling defective cars and to help themselves avoid buying substandard cars that are not worth their money. This is also for the car manufacturers to help them maintain their standards by eliminating defective cars.

Some states cover all vehicles that you are able to turn it, even if it is as old as a hundred years old. But in Florida, certain rules apply. In cases wherein there is no used warranty, the car has to be a new model. You can benefit from the advantages of the lemon law in twenty four hours that the ownership has been transferred from the original owner to you, the second buyer.

Once you buy the vehicle, this law lasts for up to twenty four thousand miles of reading on your odometer. Or it can be measured through months, which, in Florida has to be eighteen months. Whichever happens first will be the one considered. Before you purchase the vehicle, make sure that your car dealer or agent has given you the Consumer Guide to the Florida Lemon Law.

This law not only covers privately-owned vehicles, but it also applies to cars that will be used for lease. However, unlike other states, the Sunshine State does not allow motorcycles, trucks weighing at least ten thousand pounds, mopeds, and some off-road automobiles. Most states, like the state of California, allow more than just vehicles for the lemon law.

A consumer such as yourself can demand a refund for the used car that you purchased in cases wherein you have met the same problem with your vehicle over and over again and that you have taken it to the manufacturer or an authorized service repair shop for more than three times already. But not everyone can benefit from this government program because there are different car requirements that you need to have. If you are a beginner, you must be wondering how one can take advantage of the benefits and what the requirements are. Well not to worry, this article will give you loads of information about this new program.

This Cash for Clunkers Program will generally allow you to trade in your “clunker” for “cash”. This means that you can trade-in your old cars for new cars at a determined value. It will allow you to trade in your fuel inefficient car for a newer and better vehicle.

First Step: Check to see your vehicle’s year.

You need to determine a few things to know if your vehicle is qualified to join the government program. To be able to trade in your “clunker”, your car needs to be at least a 1984 model. Any model later than that will be gladly accepted.

Examples of these car makes are the 1990 Audi Coupe, 1990 Buick Estate Wagon, 1993 Cadillac Sixty Special, 1996 Chevrolet Chevy Van Classic, 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, 2000 Land Rover Range Rover, 1994 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, or any other make or model of car as long as it is from the year 1984 and beyond.

Second Step: Check the miles per gallon.

As the government has determined, your vehicle must have a maximum or eighteen miles per gallon. Anything higher than that amount and you will not be able to participate in the program. But this only goes for privately owned vehicles. Large trucks may have higher miles per gallon, so they have different requirements.

Third Step: Check the years of ownership.

Make sure that the car has been registered under your name and has been insured with the state’s complete policy requirements for at least one whole year. If you ever find a car in your backyard that is not registered in your name, then you can’t take it to the Cash for Clunkers Program.

Fourth Step: Choose your new car.

There are still requirements for the new car. If the old car you traded in had eighteen miles per gallon, this time your newly chosen car must have at least twenty two miles per gallon. In short, it should always be four times better than the clunker you traded in. If you trade it in for a new car that is less than ten miles per gallon of your old clunker, you will be getting a voucher of three thousand five hundred dollars. If you get more than ten, you will be given a voucher worth four thousand five hundred dollars.

Now that you know the different requirements, why not take that old clunker now to any garage that offers this program? You will surely benefit from the Cash for Clunkers program and what vehicles are certified is no longer a problem to you.

If you reside in the beautiful Golden State then you qualify for a California Lemon Law. If you have no idea what this law is about, now is a good time to read through this article so you will know how you can benefit from it. Let us take a look at some of the sample questions and their rightful answers.

What is the Lemon Law in the Golden State?

The Lemon Law in the state of California is a protection of the rights of its consumers who have purchased vehicles that are considered as substandard. It is also called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and is applicable to all residents of the Golden State. Vehicles and some other products included in this law are motorcycles, motorboats, computers, and even some other appliances.

How Do I Qualify for this Law?

To qualify for this type of law, you must have a vehicle that has been repaired through multiple failed attempts by its manufacturing company. The vehicle must still be under warranty or this law will not benefit you at all.

What are “lemons”?

Lemons are vehicles or products that you bought and are still under warranty but did not deliver the same quality standards that were explained by the manufacturing company. These defective products should be returned to the manufacturing company but if despite the multiple attempts to repair it, if it still remains defective and especially life-threatening, you can file a lawsuit under the Magnuson-moss Warranty Act.

What is the length or timeframe at which I can still benefit from this law?

From the date you purchased your vehicle, it must not be more than eighteen months or you must not have used it for more than eighteen thousand miles as read on your odometer. This situation will depend on whichever happens first.

When was this law established in the Golden State?

This law was first established in the 1960s and has encompassed different types of laws including the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and the Tanner Consumer Protection Act. This was based on the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act that protects the residents of California from fraudulent manufacturers that sell damaged cars without the consumer’s knowledge.

Should the car be bought in California so it can benefit from that law?

Yes, it should be bought and registered in the Golden state. It can either be for personal or business purposes and also covers car that are being leased. You should check with your state laws if there are any updates for the Lemon Law.

Should I consult a lawyer if I become a victim?

Yes, it is best to talk to an attorney who can give you the details of how you can benefit from this law according to your situation. They can also advise you on what legal steps to take in case you become a victim of lemon vehicles for sale. Remember that lemons can be life-threatening especially if the defects are in the engines or in the controls. Do not put your life at risk. Consult the California Lemon Law now.

Especially if you have just bought a car, you must have heard this phrase a few times already. To end all your curiosity, I am about to quench your thirst for knowledge. So sit back, relax, and try to pay attention as I give you the details of the most commonly asked questions about the Lemon Law.

What is being referred to by a “lemon”?

You most probably have experienced buying a new car. But have you ever experienced purchasing a new one with a hefty price tag but for some reason, when you take it home with you, it does not perform well as expected of it? you may have taken it back to the manufacturing company to complain about its performance issues, but no matter how hard they try, there seems to be nothing at all that can fix it. These are called “lemons” and even though the definition by law is not that clear and defined, most people and car manufacturers depend greatly on their state laws.

What does this law do for me as a consumer?

This law was created by the government to protect consumers such as yourself from unwanted frauds, scams, and fraud in warranties. These substandard vehicles can benefit no one and must therefore be eliminated. It cannot benefit you as a consumer, because you are paying a large amount of money for the high standard of the car. It also cannot benefit the manufacturing company, because it will then affect their name if they produce low substandard vehicles.

Is it limited to some types of vehicles?

Any vehicle–motorboats, motorcycles, and even wheelchairs are covered by the lemon law. So do not be afraid if you have recently purchased a lemon motorboat because it can still be under the law.

Does it depend on the warranty of my vehicle?

Yes, it may, and it is your responsibility to keep any records of warranty manuals or receipts. Make sure that the seller also told you about the exact conditions of the car before you purchased it. Ask as many questions as possible and try to record it or write it down for you to remember. There are cases wherein the warranty is not considered, but it is a case to case basis and may depend on a number of factors.

Can I complain to my attorney if I ever purchase a lemon?

Yes, you definitely can take action. But the manufacturing company may try to settle it down with you through mediation rather than allowing you to file a lawsuit. If you want, you can consult your lawyer for the best legal actions.

Is the law different for every state?

The same thought applies, but the conditions are different. For instance, in one state, warranties may make a big difference, but in others, it may not. It is best to check with your state so you can be sure of the conditions.

Getting stuck with a lemon is not a very nice thing. You paid thousands of dollars for a new car, and you deserve to have one. Now that you know about it, you no longer have to wonder whenever you hear someone say, “What is the lemon law?”
